2 out of 3 ain't bad...

The ladies began their adventures in the AA Singles competitions with 2 wins out of 3 in the opening round of this competition.

The Intermediate Cup team (handicap 16-22) began their competition on Sunday in South Dublin County against Bray Golf Club. Dublin CIty has a very small panel of players to pick from in this category and so it is an even greater achievement that they won this game so comprehensively.

Despite the difficult conditions (sanded course and a massive rainstorm!), the team showed what they are made of in winning 3, losing 1 with the final match being called in whilst 1 up.

Brigid won on the 14th with another fine performance. Grace followed quickly on the 16th with Captain Joan coming in on the 17th despite conceding a shot on that hole.

Karen was called in on 17 whilst one up. Shiela was unfortunate to go down on 17th after a protracted cat and mouse game. Well done to Shiela who was playing her first game for Dublin City.

We face the winners of Naas and Knockanally in the Castle on 21st May in the next round.

The Minor Cup Team (handicap 23-29) also had fine victory in their first match (Match report to follow!). They played Clane in Naas Golf Club. It was a tense and nervous affair in wet and windy conditions. The game was settled on the 25th Hole when Angela O Donoghue brought in a fine victory.

Congratulations to Evelyn and team who face the winners of Knockanally and Newlands on 20th May in the Hermitage. Thanks to all who caddied and helped out on the day.

Finally, hard luck to the Challenge Cup Team (handicap 30-36), who lost narrowly to Lucan in their match in Beaverstown. All of the team were competing in interclub golf for the first time ever so well done to Deirdre Morrissey, Niamh Coffey, Marie Kelly, Mary O Hanlon and Anne Dunne plus Captain Jean MacMahon.
