Some competition rules

In response to a number of recent queries, we have outlined below some clarification on playing the course on the same day as a competition, competition rules, formats and entry fees. Members are welcome to submit any similar queries to the competitions committee at any time.

Playing the course on the day of a Competition.
(Rule 7 of the Rules of Golf covers this.)

A summary of this rule is that a player may not play on any part of the course on the same day before the start of a strokeplay competition. (Strokeplay includes Stableford and V Par competitions). You can play the course at any time on the previous day.

In matchplay, unless otherwise stated by the Committee, a player can play any or all of the course prior to a match on the same day.

Exceptions. On the day before the Captains Prize, the committee will state a time at which the course will be closed for play and players must abide by this.

Re-entry to 2 and 3 day 18 Hole Weekend Competitions.

The committee allows re-entry to these competitions on the subsequent days only. Players are not allowed re-enter on the same day.

Rules for Entry and Competition Book.

The rules for club competitions are made by the Competitions Committee only.
The general competition rules are stated on the notice board and in the diary.

The rules and format for a specific competition are stated in the Competitions Book only. Sometimes, a reference will be made to additional rules on the NOTICEBOARD specific to that competition. ALL PLAYERS MUST ONLY REFER TO THE COMPETITIONS ENTRY BOOK FOR THESE RULES.

Entry Fees.

An entry fee is stated for each competition. Once a player enters his name in the competition book he must pay the appropriate entry fee. Once the competition is held, the fee is payable whether the player fails to complete the course for any reason such as bad weather, failing light etc.,

If the Competitions Committee abandons or cancels a competition, players who have paid an entry fee are entitled to a credit off a future competition. (Not applicable to Majors).

Players failing to pay an entry fee are deemed “short”. (Refer to the Notice board)
