From the Captain..
The Captain has issued the letter below to all male club members concerning recent major competitions.

7th October 2008.

To : All Male members
Dublin City Golf Club

Dear member,

During the last three majors of the season, the McInerney Trophy, the re-scheduled September Medal and the October Medal, there were issues of concern to me that may have caused upset to a number of members playing in those competitions.

In particular, I refer to the issue of slow play, where in some cases, a round of golf took 5 or more hours to complete in some instances. This is unacceptable. In addition, more recently in the October medal, there was also some confusion over the preferred lie rule.

It is clear that these matters need to be addressed and I intend to do so. But first of all, I wish to apologise to all those members who were upset or inconvenienced as result of these matters.

I will be raising these issues with my committee and with the owners of the course with the view to ensuring that we avoid such situations in the future.

Once again, I apologise for any inconvenience.

Yours sincerely,

Paddy O’Brien
Captain
