Mick Wyse Charity Day incl Photos

wyse charity trophyThe Mick Wyse Charity Trophy was played on Sunday last, 29th August. The early players had to put up with some rain, but the sun eventually appeared and it was a most pleasant day.  Forty-eight teams participated which made it a very successful day for the G.L.E.N.N. Group, the designated charity this year.

The Captain and committee were very pleased with the response and the generosity of our members and their guests for this worthwhile local charity. In addition to the golf subscription, the contributions from the players to the food stall at the 10th green was tremendous. Special thanks are due to the Colgan family, Ray, Catherine and Olga for operating the food stall so well throughout the day.

Special thanks are also due to Danny Towell and Mick O’Connor who helped out in so many ways including the checking of the score cards and to all others including Tony, Derek, Les and Bob who helped to make the day a success in various ways.

The comments from the players suggested the competition was enjoyed by all. Congratulations to the winning team, Phil Cobbe, Ciaran Doherty, Kieran Murray and Frank Bagnall who scored 96 points and who were presented with the Mick Wyse Charity Trophy by Mrs Gemma Wyse.

There were plenty of prizes also for runners-up and various combinations of teams.

Captain Paddy and the committee were delighted to see so many attending the prize giving.
